ID Mouse Monoclonal anti-Cavß4 Antibody
Antigen Description Voltage-dependent L-type calcium channel subunit beta-4 (Cavÿ4) is a member of the membrane-associated guanylate kinase (GK) protein family and a cytoplasmic subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels. Expressed predominantly in the cerebellum and kidney, it is responsible for calcium entry into nerve termini and subsequent neurotransmitter release via its association with membrane-trafficking protein synaptotagmin 1 (Syt 1). It regulates synaptic transmission, increases the readily releasable pool of synaptic vesicles, and plays a role in synaptic vesicle plasticity and maturation through its association with Cavÿ1, RIM1, and actin filaments (F-actin). Cavÿ4 has been linked to psychiatric and anxiety disorders including major depressive disorder (MDD) and schizophrenia and is a potential therapeutic target in their study and treatment.
