Physical Appearance and Stability Lyophilized bFGF, although, stable at room temperature, should be stored desiccated below -20C. Upon reconstitution, bFGF could be stored at 4C for up to 4 weeks, and for future use, below -20C. For long term storage, it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
Formulation and Purity The protein was lyophilized from a concentrated (7mg/ml) solution in PBS, pH 7.4 and, 300mM NaCl. Greater than 98.0% as determined by SDS-PAGE.

Solubility It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Fibroblast Growth Factor Basic in sterile PBS, not less than 100ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Biological Activity The ED50, calculated by the dose-dependant proliferation of BAF3 cells expressing FGF receptors (measured by 3H-thymidine uptake) is <0.5 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 2,000,000 Units/mg. It has also been tested in iPSC medium stable bFGF is of > 120hrs half-life.
